Raila Supporters, Kibaki Supporters and Kalonzo Supporters!
writes, "Why do we refer to supporters of any of the Presidential Candidates as Kenyans to the exclusion of other "Kenyans". When you and your fellow so and so supporters are addressing issues you express views and refer those views as the views of Kenyans - When in effect you mean views of so and so supporters.

What do you make of the following...........
"
O2, just for the record, below is the SMS conversation you and I had on 5 October 2007. It went as follows:

O2: If you are not wearing orange, do not leave home tomorrow. U r either with us or u r against
Kenya.

Ole: Against you. Wearing black! Uta do?

O2: Yours is a spoilt vote. Utapigwa mawe na WaKENYA if u r not with us. Thats what we will do.

Ole: Imagine! Nitapigwa mawe!? Hao hooligans ndio unataka niwape kura yangu? Yaani if I do not
agree with them watanichapa? Hiyo ni democracy kweli? Heri nife na kura yangu!

O2: U r either with wanainchi ama utapigwa mawe. Those wanainchi r not contesting n so dont need ua
vote.Spoilt vote.

Ole: Ni wanainchi ama ni raila supporters kama wewe? Yaani ungepata nafasi ungeni stone?
Nilidhani umesoma? Na hata hivyo wewe eti ni rafiki yangu! Sasa ninashangaa!

O2: R U with wanainchi ama uko against? Not that am advocating mawe but when u stand btwn a person
and his survival, dont blame him akikuchapa mawe. Relax n enjoy the electioneering!

Ole: Sasa nimejua your true colours! Yaani sapota wa kalonzo na kibaki wahame kenya kwa sababu
raila ni preso?

O2: Those r spoilt votes. Cheers

Ole: Yaani ungekuwa huku ungenipiga mawe kesho? Shame on you O2! YOU AND OTHER RAILA SUPPORTERS
and your friends MUST LEARN to respect every KENYAN'S INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS IMMEDIATELY otherwise
KENYA IS IN TROUBLE. Teach them this before THEY LAND US ALL IN CHAOS! A difference in opinion IS
ALL
IT IS! Is it worth fighting for? YOU AND YOUR LOT MUST EMBRACE A BETTER WAY BEFORE
TOMORROW "live and let live"

O2: U r either with Kenyans ama u r not. Kalonzo is an orange pia. I dont throw stones. Chill

Ole: Kwani, am I a Ugandan? Kibaki na wafuasi wake wametoka kwa moon? Do not imagine that ONLY
RAILA Supporters are kenyans. When you are talking about RAILA SUPPORTES pls address
them as such. Other Kenyans will not go anywhere near uhuru park kesho for fear of violence!
Nashangaa kama tutahama kenya raila akishinda. Kama mtu kama
wewe ambaye ako na masters dregree anafikiria

What do u want people to say about this private conversation between friends?

-- alfotula, Oct 23, 2007 10:37am
People should be very careful when talking to you, Ole, you have adopted Githongo's methods of recording a joke between u and O2, downloading it, uploading it and sending around the world to people, some of whom do not even know you? This is surely an unacceptable practice among friends. I am awfully disappointed with you.

-- alfotula, Oct 23, 2007 10:43am
Alfotula - wacha nikuambie O2 threatened to stone me! That in normal circumstances is a police case!

I should shout everywhere for every body to hear THAT my life is in danger and ask for police protection from him and his likes BUT that now is not the issue and if he feels offended that I have let my friends and his know what his intentions are - to harm me - then I am sorry!

PLEASE though - maybe you can help him understand that when he is refering to Raila supporters, he should refer to them as such AND NOT TO use the word KENYANS (which is assumed to cover the whole population of Kenya) as there are Kalonzo and Kibaki supporters who are also Kenyans and may not want to behave like my friend O2

-- Ole, Oct 25, 2007 09:40am
Ole, O2 lives 5000 miles away from where you live and so cannot possibly stone you even with a sling. Report this matter to the police and let us see what they will think of you. They may sympathise and refer you to a specialised hospital for an urgent attention.

Raila's supporters are Kenyans. The word Kenyan is used to describe the citizens of the republic of Kenya and not the whole population of Kenya. So even if 50% of Kenyans support Raila, those 50% do not cease to be Kenyans to become Raila supporters. They remain Kenyans. Even Kalonzo's 8% are Kenyans. You are with the people if you command the majority of those people. Raila is with the people at the moment. Those not for him are therefore NOT WITH THE PEOPLE.

-- alfotula, Oct 27, 2007 04:40pm
Ole, sasa ni supporters wa nani ambawo wanarusha mawe kwa wakubwa? In Kisii, tulichapwa na mawe na mshale. In Meru na embu, ODM wamechapwa na mawe na wengine wamepatikana na bunduki na panga. Who is violent now?

I have not heard that ODM supporters have done similar things to the other candidates. Why r PNU supporters causing chaos in the country? The buck stops with Kibaki.

-- alfotula, Oct 28, 2007 02:29pm
O2 - Unafikiri ni kwa nini - PNU hawajaenda Kibera na Luo Nyanza?

Hiyo si kusema eti watu watupe mawe - haikubaliki kamwe - buck stops with Kibaki I agree and everybody should be given good security.

Well done for agreeing to differentiate the supporters of the various presidential candidates i.e. ODM supporters and PNU supporters...............

Lakini ni nyinyi mlianza hii maneno .... Kibera!

-- admin, Oct 29, 2007 06:02pm
Siku gani PNU presidential candidate amechapwa na mawe Kibera? Kwani Kibera ni Luo Nyanza? If the president of a whole country is afraid to visit Nyanza due to insecurity, then he cannot govern the country. Is Nyanza and Kibera separate states within Kenya?

Hata Mt. Elgon aliogopa kuenda. Lucy ndio akaenda. MK is just a coward and that is why during saba saba he was silent while Raila and group were choking in teargass. He and KM were flying flags obliviuos to what common man was going thro. They must not harvest what they did not sow.

PNU supporters r violent while ODM supporters have not thrown a single stone at PNU.

-- alfotula, Oct 30, 2007 07:58am
Yenyewe hapo umeskoo! 1nil.

Hii mambo ya ECK commissioners unaona aje?

-- Ole, Oct 30, 2007 11:53pm
My comment about ECK is on the Nation blog and it says,

"Give this guy a long rope and he will quickly find himself a tree to hang himself. ODM has tricked MK into hanging himself by daring him to appoint commissioners unilaterally and he has done just that.

Many of you who are saying, "The president vows to uphold the rule of law and the constitution not, MOU's. IPPG was not transformed into law....blah blah blah" do not understand what politics is about. Politics is about deal-cutting and the moment a politician has proved himself incapable of being trusted, he will never get into a deal with anybody.

Yes, he acted within the law and yes, IPPG was never made into a law. Does it mean that Moi, who acted within IPPG broke the law? Why didn't Kibaki as the leader of official opposition between 1997-2002 not ensure IPPG was legislated?"

Wewe unaona aje? Can anybody trust Kibaki anymore even now that this would be his last term and thus will have nothing to lose by fucking you after elections? Only a very stupid or desparate politician would have any deal with Kibaki. PNU is bound to crumble.

Wewe sema yako.

-- alfotula, Oct 31, 2007 10:36am
Wacha Maneno yako!! OPPOSITION NI NANI?

Opposition - official ni UHURU and he is not complaining!!

Raila is NARC! NARC is government!

Uliza UHURU kama he was consulted!!!

-- Ole, Oct 31, 2007 08:31pm
Either you are trying to pull my leg or I do not understand you when you say " Opposition - official ni UHURU and he is not complaining!!

"Raila is NARC! NARC is government!". Are these genuine and well thought out comments? U and the people who reason like this are the reasons Kibaki is going home to die. Let me educate you a little, if you allow me.

Parliament was dissolved a while back and as such, hakuna NARC ama official opposition. The only players in the coming elections for which non-partisan referees should be expected pits ODM, ODM-K and PNU or whatever it is Kbaki will run on. These players/teams ought to have been heard and their worries addressed. They are the ones who will cry foul and plunge the country to chaos should ECK rig the elections in favour of Kibaki.

Do not tell me about Uhuru. That imbecile will not even go back to parliament. He should have listened to Raila and decamped to Dagorreti Constituency. As it is, Nbi is a clean sweep for ODM. Look at those routing for Kibaki's re-election; Kamlesh Patni, Daniel Arap Moi, Nicholas Kipyator Biwot, John Michuki, Njenga Karume, Simeon Nyachae.............Jeez, who did we send home in 2002? Why is Patni not at kamiti? And you think this guy is God's gift to us? Please..........!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, when you compair popularity based on percentage, you miss the point. 30% difference in RV for eg is at least a million in real votes. ODM leads in 6 of 8 provinces! Only the hand of God can deny them victory.

In short, Kibaki has shown he is a dictator and someone who does not respect opposition. He is noot a democrat at all. In fact he has never won any DEMOCRACY AWARD, not even in Kenya! That speaks volumes.

On the contrary, we know of how many international Awards, one Raila Amolo Odinga has won including sharing one with the siting president of Ghana. This guy is a true democrat and a true pan Africanist.

Vote Raila, vote for a better Kenya.

-- alfotula, Nov 01, 2007 08:16am
Hii Raila yako anaanza kupanick!

Anasema voter records zinabadilishwa, anasema ECK itakuwa comromised!!

Anaogopa na tayari ashaona kwamba anaenda retire ndio sababu anazungumza vile..............

Mnaenda retire ..................... tayarisheni....

Nilikwambia hata Kibera hawezi shinda!? Mwambie akimbie Bondo ama Kisumu Town before it is too late!

-- admin, Nov 02, 2007 12:40am
Ole, r u a democrat or not? would u want a fair elections in Kenya or not? If not, this will be my last comment on this blog bcos we r not talking on the same wave-length.

My question to you is this. Do you want a fair election or you do not want Raila to be the president at any cost? Do u remember the Artur Bros? Raila blew the whistle and the official response was exactly the same then. Whom do you want to believe?

You r either pulling my leg or we r not communicating at the same wave-length. As always, I am a democrat and I want a fair ground for all and I want the best person to win fairly.

-- alfotula, Nov 04, 2007 12:32pm
I am certainly not the opposite of democrat!

Yes - I want fair elections in Kenya!

Kivuitu asked Raila to go to ECK and prove his claims - alienda? If he is such a serious guy WHY did he NOT present his allegations to the ECK before going to the press?

Raila many times forgets that he has Millions of followers and some with a temper like yours - he needs to watch his tongue - otherwise ile story ya Mawe itakuwa. Why doe he raise issues that can aggravate his supporters towards violence .... aache kupanick na akimbie Bondo....... Kibera hapati!!

The truth is that Raila is running scared - he has run out of ideas - HIS MAJIMBO call has come a cropper and he is now fumbling in the dark. By the time of the election he will be too tired to raise his followers emotions ..... he should have learnt a lesson from Kenyan Athletes ..... hiyo Stamina ako nayo? Wafuasi wake washaachoka tayari....

Akiwa promise vitu ambazo si real alafu anaraise emotions zao what does he expect. An emotion is just that an emotion ................. it changes within a very short time.

O2 ... ruka sakafu uje pande yetu ..... PNU ... sisi ndio
tutaongoza Kenya for another 5yrs. Raila asahau Presidency milele............

Ebu nikuulize, UGATUZI NI NINI? It sounds like MATUSI!!

Kwanza niambie isipokuwa mchanga rawe wakwamba watatoa mapato wapi?

The leadership we have had in terms of MPS has failed Kenyans even in managing something as simple as CDF - if you appoint/elect more like them at lower levels ..... wataiba mpaka Majimbo yao ifilisike!!!

Mnasema eti you do NOT want the central government to lord it over certain areas while denying them resources ..... have you considered what would happen at the JIMBO level!!! Kutakuwa na tutyrant and tudictator twingi kila mahali .... wacheni hii maneno!

Unakumbuka tuchief tukinyanganya wanaichi kuku eti ni donation ya harambee!! Siku zile chiefs walikuwa ni kama mungu....

Majimbo itakuwa mbaya zaidi ............ anyway endeleeni kuota peke yenyu!

Nilikuambia kitambo Raila is not the problem - his followers are the problem. Kama wewe I expect unatajarajia cheo kuuubwa eti kwa sababu wewe ni sapota!!!? By the way, if Raila was to WIN and if he can control his supotas KENYA WOULD BE VERY MUCH BETTER OFF! Promise zake ni zaidi ya wengine wote put together and WE WOULD HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE - can you imagine rents being lowered, prices of bread and milk lowered, no more slums...............

A RAILA WIN IS A KENYA WIN lakini....................

ALL I want is the best man to win AND I believe KIBAKI is that man. Infact tangu aanze kusimama president nilikuwa na poteza kura yangu na yeye ... mpaka 2002 tuliposhinda.... I believed in him tangu siku hizo and now I have alot to show as evidence of his good leadership ..... tumekuwa na kazi throughout
tangu around 2004. We used to declare loses .... last year we made a profit and had to pay tax!! Can you believe that.... this year pia ni hivyo.... usiseme eti mimi ni elite..... mimi nafanya na vijana kutoka kibera
mostly na vijiji vingine popote tuendapo and I pay them reasonably - mtu wa mkono sasa kshs. 250/- per day, fundi zaide ya kshs. 933/- per day.

MIMI NINGETAKA KAZI IENDELEE infact kama si hii ukabila eti wakamba wapigie Kalonzo etc ...... KILA mmoja angekuwa akisema KAZI IENDELEE..........

na

Myfriend,

KAZI ITAENDELEA na nyinyi muende retire!

-- Ole, Nov 04, 2007 04:51pm
Ole, I do not expect position in a Raila government and that is not the reason I support his candidacy.

As DP, MK and Kiraitu walipatia Ghai the party position on the new constitution na walisupport devolution. In 2005 Wako draft na Bomas Draft both had Devolution in Chaper 14. Banana Alias PNU supported devolution through their support for the Wako draft while Orange supported deolution through its support for Bomas Draft. Two years later, PNU has made about turn eti devolution kitu gani! Why did they support it then and not now? Is Kenya the only country that will have a federal government? Are we not capable of designing the right structure for devolution for us even if we are to borrow from successful federal states?

Raila made a claim that there is rigging going on. Such a serious allegation cannot be loosely made. Time will tell who is right on this issue.

The economy is recovering and am happy that your firm is having good results. This is bcos those with the means to produce have made a lot of money and can now induldge in leisure like pools. Common mwananchi ambaye haana ng'ombe ya maziwa, hana shamba ya kahawa ama chai wanaumia kweli kweli. Salaries cannot feed them and matatus are almost a luxury. There must be a better system of econmic empowerment that can enable majority to improve their lifestyle.

Naenda kazi. tarehe 27 itahamua.

Cheers

-- alfotula, Nov 05, 2007 07:57am
Wewe unasema "....................There must be a better system of econmic empowerment that can enable majority to improve their lifestyle".

Wewe ni economist ... niambie a better way. Tell me what other way is better than what we have. What difference will a system other than CDF and others initiated by the current Unitary System make to the majority to improve their life style.

Kijana we must give those who have ideas to start business and those who have businesses priority in funding SO THAT they can grow their businesses so that they can create jobs. The Economy MUST grow as it is in order to create greater wealth FOR ALL. Those who already have WILL BE THE IMMEDIATE BENEFICIARIES of a growing economy and then this will trickle down slowly first and then it should start to flow down when the systems in place are in stabilised.

THIS IS A FACT OF LIFE ... you can not take from the rich and give to the poor .... IT DOES NOT WORK!! The poor must DO SOMETHING for themselves while the CENTRAL GOVERNMENT creates the enabling environment for business to thrive.

AMA unataka Ujamaa!!!? Ushaenda Tanzania?

BOTTOM LINE the rich will keep growing richer and when they do - THE HARD WORKING POOR will benefit and hopefully a middle class will emerge that will control a bigger percentage of the economy and many years to come, WE WILL HAVE MANY RICH PEOPLE AND fewer poor people!!!?

IS THIS PEDESTRIAN ECONOMICS ama? Wewe mwenye Masters in Economics tupatie idea ambayo itado job!

Na ukumbuke.... juzi Balala alisema, hakuna mtu wa mombasa mwenye Beach plot! I hope this is not your thinking as the implications of this sort of thinking is that .... you take from those who have to enable watu wa mombasa to own a beach plot!

THIS IS THE DEVOLUTION THAT ODM IS CHAMPIONING otherwise a member of the pentagon could not say such things. You can then understand my(and many others) fear! IT IS REAL! Pick up yangu itachukuliwa ipewe maskini!!!

Kumbuka Uganda! What did the Ugandans do with the property dished to them by Idi Amin?

My friend - CDF is really the best way to go. Get the amounts involved increased slowly to a reasonable chunk. Build Schools, Roads, water and Hospitals. Give FREE education to the poor from Nursery School to first Degree in the university. This is what is going to change this country ...... and it will take a while .... it takes .... close to 20 years for ... meaningful sustainable change to happen........ LET KIBAKI stay for the next 5 so that he can continue to manage the
transition. After that, a new team - modern in thinking
and action - LIKE ME & YOU can take over.

By the way nataka kuwa preso come 2025!

Haya sema .............

-- Ole, Nov 06, 2007 09:09am
You sem to have this misconception that under ODM, your wealth will be taken away and shared to the poor. That is the propaganda being peddled by PNU but it will not stop the idea from being well received by the people who understand what this is all about. In simple language, it is the state resources that will now be shared out more equitably, not individual earnings. People will get the opportunity to decide for themselves what their local priorities are and apply the resources accordingly. USA, Germany, Austria, Japan, China, Switzerland, RSA are just a few examples of devolved states. Mbona hawaja complain ati they r being robbed? To ask me for my personal opinion of how the devolution is being tool simplistic with an issue of this magnitude. Like all major policy issue, you need to create a team to search through successful cases and see how to apply it to our case. That is the way to go.

If you still read your local newspapers you must have seen some of the arguements against CDF being the way to go. It is a step but it does not empower people economically. I emailed to you an article from today's Nation. Make sure you read it.

Nakuliza hivi, do you think Kenya cannot do better without Kibaki? Who will lead Kenya after 2012 if, God forbid, Kibaki gets re-elected in 2007? R we going to give birth to a new Messiah or are we going to sing "away with the two term rule?". Thank God that Kenyans know what they want and will go for it on 27th Dec, new districts or not.

-- alfotula, Nov 06, 2007 03:30pm
Wewe address the issue I raised about Balala saying that "............no coastal person owns a beach plot in Mombasa". DO NOT SKIRT AROUND this one....

Tena - state resources ni gani? Regional resources as per your argument will stay in the regions..... then be topped up by ... you kind of government ..... swali ni ....na wale hawana --- wakamba, wanorh eastern...

I agree with your "Like all major policy issue, you need to create a team to search through successful cases and see how to apply it to our case. ".................

Kwa hivyo ODM is just using this to win elections? Kwa hivyo wanataka kuexperiment na inchi yetu? So, why do they talk like they have already done this and that they will implement it by June 2008?

Nikumbushe tena what are you going to do with the Kleptomaniacs in our society......... Hii waizi ya pesa nane ambao hata sasa wanaiba mali ya uma. You will have multiplied them by the number of regions.....

ODM's idea will just burden the Kenyans - watu waambiwe UHURU NA KAZI ---- wafanye kazi na Kazi iendelee..............

Hamna njia ingine isipokuwa hiyo. ODM give the idea that manner will come from THEIR DEVOLVED (MAJIMBO) government. My friend disabuse this idea mara moja!!

Kenya can do without Kibaki hata sasa .... problem is there is now Raila and nobody except Kibaki can beat Raila!!!!

Without Raila in the picture tungepatia Kalonzo na wengine wengi. Hata mimi....

Kuongopa Raila na wenzake wenye kusema ..... hakuna coastal ana own beach plot is REAL .... THIS GUYS DO NOT CARE WHAT HAPPENS to this country.... power tu ndio wanataka. Ya nini - hawajui MPAKA WAKIIPATA NDIO WATAANZA KUFIKIRIA!!

-- admin, Nov 07, 2007 05:12am
ODM wamesema wataimplement the BOMAS constitution, if they can marshall enough votes at referendum. If they succeed in implementing this "Peoples' constitution, they must implement all its provisions including Devolution.

As it appears currently in Ch 14, there is no structure. You cannot put all details in a constitution. There is a broad definition of the form of devolution PEOPLE said they want. The finer details will be left to the relevant technocrats to thrash. That is how such things r done. In other words, what ODM is saying is that they r giving people what they intend to do should they win election as opposed to business as usual or kazi iendelee proposed by PNU.

I have mentioned to you very many countries that currently are federal. So, Kenya going federal will not be an experiment. And what is wrong with trying something different if you feel the current one is not working well? Without risk, there cannot be progress. We risked with CDF, Free Primary Education etc and after teething problems, these risks r paying off. ODM is saying they want to CHANGE the way things r done in Kenya. PNU says "it ain't broke so do not fix it". This is the difference btwn these two sets of robbers. Wa kenya watahamua ni gani wanataka. Something new or more of the same thing?

Whatever Balala says is his own problem. If he rightfully said that hakuna mtu wa coast ambaye ana beach plot, he must have his reasons. He simply stated a fact. Remember that Kenya has laws and whether ODM wins or PNU wins, God forbid, people will still have to obey those laws. The last time I checked, only the president is above the law in Kenya and Balala is not contesting presidency.

-- alfotula, Nov 07, 2007 07:45am
Sasa Umezungumza kama wanaume tano!

Heko!

Hii ........" difference btwn these two sets of robbers" imenifanya nikacheka sana because this really is the problem among many of our problems....

Like I said earlier ....WHOEVER WINS, Kenya will be better off because they have made promises that must be fulfilled.

I just hope that we can get a more intelligent more people (Kenya) focused set of MPs. People who will make a real difference for Kenya.

Unfortunately most I have seen are seeking a well paying job! Most are looking at the good life of earning Kshs. 1,000,000/- a month ............ nothing else.

Sad don't you think?

-- admin, Nov 08, 2007 04:39am
Ngojea unone leadership ya Raila. This man will even box ministers who r messing up his government like Jerry Rawlings of Ghana used to do. He is not a laid back person but a completely hands-on who hates lazy people. Kibaki has largely been a very colourless and lazy president. He is someone who cannot inspire the nation to greater heights.

Moi really started off well. he was very energetic, starting Nyayo this and Nyayo that and building gabbions accross Ukambani and many areas where soil erosion was a major headache. But, in the process and especially after 1982 coup, he lost it and became paranoid and flexed his muscles unnecessarily. All said, he had a vision and he used his energy to try and see it work. In fact under Moi, we had free primary education and sch milk.

MK has largely revived projects that Moi ran aground. Other than this and the fact that Kenyan economy is growing in tandem with other African economies, there is nothing he will show for his presidency. What new idea has MK implemented since 2002? What vision did he have for the country when he was vying for the presidency? Has he lived by the promises he made on 30th Dec 2002? He is actually worse than Moi in creation of districts and perpetuation of tribalism. His cronies are buying all the milk-cows(profitable parastatals) for very little.

For a long time, I have harboured these feelings that what kenya really needs is radical ideas, radical policies and the will to try something absolutely new bcos what we have is not working for the common man. ODM is promising just such a change and after 5 yrs, they too will be judged by the voters. Kibaki cannot just sleep in Statehouse for 3 yrs, wake up to campaign for Banana and then cheat us that he has been working for 5 yrs. If he wins, God forbid, he will not care a hoot about anybody and will now take a well-deserved rest at Statehouse while Amos Kimunya runs amok with our economy. Tutado?

-- alfotula, Nov 08, 2007 09:37am
Kazi itaendelea! Wananchi wakimua bas!

Another 5 yrs of kazi iendelee ndio mimi nataka. Sitaki radical ideas!

Lakini debe ndio itaamua na ikiamua then we have to live with our choices.

Kitu moja unasahau ni kwamba 2002 economy ilikuwa inakuwa at -2 sasa iko +7 ....... hiyo ni +9 .... kweli Kibaki alikuwa amelala?

Performance ingine kama hiyo itafikisha sisi +18 .... na Raila anataka +10 .... he is not ambitious enough!!!

We want more - he should be promising us 20% and not lower prices of things and removal of Electronic Tax Registers! Economy ikue.................... yani tufanye kazi kwa bidii maradufu!

Ama?
